China Week 3

The last week we were in China was full of running around. I will hit the highlights:

My dad took a day off work to go on a tour with me at a hutong, or an old neighborhood. We took a tour in a cart and it was really interesting. We also ate at a really good pizza place that I was unsure of when we walked up and there was a dirty chicken eating lettuce right outside. Then I took him back to order some bracelets...I mean at less than a $1.00 for some of them I went crazy.

My mom and I took Claire to the zoo. It was the most horrible, unattractive, sad zoo I have ever been to! The animals were all in bare cages and all alone. There was trash in the open habitats and I just wanted to cry. Needless to say I can't wait to take her to the zoo in Houston when we go this summer. The aquarium wasn't that bad though! We could see in the tanks and the facility was nice.

We had dinner with my parent's friends and it was really nice to meet all of them. They all are from different places with different stories of living overseas. While we were visiting some of them were moving so we went to lunch for their going away and we got to see the different places people lived.

One night we went to dinner with my parents driver and his family. They are so great and Claire just loved him. They brought Claire so many outfits and toys and just wanted to play with her.

It was a great three weeks visiting my parents. The plane ride back was eventful for sure! Claire didn't sleep on the first ride from Beijing to Tokyo, then we had a 3 hour layover after our delay in China, and then Claire was the only one out of the two of us who slept from Tokyo to Honolulu. Atleast she was comfy and quiet! She is a well traveled little person and is pretty much a pro. Good thing since we are flying a lot this summer!
