Girl Trip: The beginning!

This summer we are going on a few trips and yesterday Claire and I started on our first trip alone! I decided I should blog as we go so that we don't miss any important details if I decide to make this into a book at the end of her first year.

We left Honolulu yesterday morning and headed to see Tutu and Pop! Justin and Winston are home holding down the fort for us while we are gone. We had to take two plane rides and it was something I had not been looking forward to for awhile. The first plane ride was 8.5 hours, then a 2.5 layover in a foreign country airport alone (with baby, all her stuff, and my sanity holding on), and then a 3.5 hour plane ride to our destination. Everything went really great during the entire trip. I think mainly because she had her own seat and the plane had the setup of only 2 seats on the sides, which is where we sat. Even if she only slept a total of maybe 4 hours it was fine.

Claire just smiled at everyone and everyone was willing to help a mom with a happy baby. I have to say all the people who worked for the airline, ANA, were great. From the check-in people in Honolulu until we landed and met my mom outside customs it was a great experience.

When we had our layover this travel group was totally crazy over Claire. They kept coming over to the play area and watching her with the toys. At the gate they took her out of my arms and walked around with her! I was panicking but what can you do?!? The language barrier, the amount of stuff I had, and the fact that it was nice to let someone else hold her for a few seconds...I didn't care! I did promise Justin that Claire would be strapped to me at all times, but sorry :) One of the women in the group even shoved everyone out of the way for me when it was time to get on the plane so that I could get settled first. She also volunteered her services to help me on the plane. I think partly so she could get her hiney in her seat before everyone. Oh well, it was nice.

We finally landed, got through immigration and customs, got our bags, and met my mom and her driver outside the gate. By the time we loaded up and got home we had been awake almost 24 hours but it didn't seem to be making a difference to Claire. She slept through the night and woke up this morning ready to conquer the day.

Seriously the most food on a plane tray I have ever seen.

She had to sit there while I adjusted our stuff.

So cute!!! I know traveling with kids is so hard. I couldn't believe when I went through airport how they made her take her off her baby shoes and check every food bottle, etc. You moms who travel alone I give big props too!!!!! :)
