Dear Claire,
Today you are five months old. I say it all the time, but I can’t believe how big you are getting! Your daddy and I think you are the most precious little person in the world.
This month mommy and you went to the doctor all by ourselves because daddy was gone. Mommy held you while you got your shots. It wasn’t so bad except I thought you were going to pass out. You wouldn’t catch your breath. After I got up and walked for a few seconds you let out a little scream. You fell asleep while we were waiting for a refill of Tylenol. You didn’t have a reaction to the shots and just slept most of the day. You weighed 13.5 pounds and were 24 inches long! All in the 50th percentile for your age again.
You started eating cereal this month. At first you weren’t so sure but now I think you like it. Your little thighs are starting to get really squishy!
We got to watch daddy come home from his last underway with the USS Cheyenne. It was fun to watch his submarine pull back in. We took some pictures with the boat and then when daddy came up on the pier. While daddy was gone we found out he made First Class! This is very exciting stuff!
We celebrated your first Thanksgiving. On actual Thanksgiving we had a Tex Mex theme at our house and then on Saturday we had real Thanksgiving food. It was all yummy. You just slept and played while we were all busy.
You took your second trip! Mommy and you flew to Texas for six weeks! You were really good on the plane and slept the whole way. We met Tutu at the airport and loaded up all the luggage. You are not easy to travel with because you have so much stuff! Daddy, Pop, and Aunt Kim will all meet us in Kingwood during the month. You have met lots of people during our stay so far and soon you will get to meet your Mimi and Pawpaw.
Things you are doing:
· Rolling over from your back to tummy and when you are in your bed you can roll from your tummy to back.
· You like to grab at toys and put them all in your mouth. Hard rings and Sophie are your favorite toys- along with the Winkle ball.
· You are starting to explore other people’s faces and like to touch them all over.
· You are a slobbery mess. We think you might be getting a tooth soon.
· Trying to sit up on your own. We practice and practice. You are getting the hang of it but still fall over sometimes.
· You found your feet this month. You don’t like socks on or your pajamas because you can’t get to your feet. In the mornings we find you talking to your feet.
· You are constantly talking and making noise. It is funny to listen to you and talk back.
· Your little laugh is getting louder.
· You sometimes get nervous when other people hold you. You calm down once you find someone you know- it’s usually mommy this month since we have been together so much. You like to dig your face into my shoulder.
The funniest thing you have done this month TWICE is poop on mommy. Once you were laying on the ground and let our an enormous toot. The second time we were at the mall shopping with Tutu. Thankfully she was with us. Mommy had to take off her sweater and you didn’t have any clean pants. You left the mall bundled up in a blanket, clean diaper, a shirt, and bow all while smiling and people telling me how cute you were. If they only knew that under that blanket you had no pants on and I was taking you outside in 50 degree weather to run to the car to find your diaper bag praying you had pants of some sort.
You make us so happy and every day is an adventure. The next month is going to be filled with so many new fun memories! It’s Christmas time!
We love you Little Stinker,
Mommy and Daddy
