Justin has been in the Navy a little over 9 years. It has gone really fast. Maybe because part of the time we weren't married and I was busy with college and the other part we've been having babies and they just keep us super busy.
Shore duty was good to us this time. We had a lot of family time watching Claire grow and adding Kennedy and Kinley to the mix. We had the opportunity to travel to China, which we probably wouldn't have done if Justin was on a submarine. We went home for extended periods of time. Justin could stay home if people were sick and I still needed to go to work.
We were blessed.
In October we signed up for 6 more years. I say we because it really is the 5 of us signing up for periods of time being apart, schools, a sea tour and the beginning of another shore duty. Justin has a school to go to and then a four year sea tour coming up. We aren't sure of the submarine he is going to yet, but we do know we want to stay in Hawaii for a few more years. We truly are one of those families who loves living here.
It was a quick and easy ceremony. A group of guys from Justin's office came out and he was discharged from the Navy for a mere 5 minutes and then sworn right back in. The officer in charge also presented all the girls and me a certificate of appreciation from the Navy.
I can't believe that shore duty has come to an end so quickly.
