This month we had a visit from Aunt Kim and Jared. They came in from LA for Claire's birthday party. They were a big help from the night they got in until it was time to go. We went and ate at new places we hadn't been before, went to the beach twice and played at home. Claire likes to play with both of them so it's always fun. They hadn't seen the girls since Easter and they've totally changed since then.
The girls also celebrated their first 4th of July! This is one of my favorite holidays and we hosted all of our friends at our house for a night of grilling out and playing in the jump house. There were no fireworks on base this year, which is always my favorite part of the night.
Both girls perfected sitting up this month! I figured it would take a few more months because of their adjusted age and Claire sitting up around 7 months (I compare a lot, which I shouldn't do!). We worked hard for this goal. I wanted them to be able to sit up before they started daycare with Ms. Diane. It for sure makes for a more pleasant playtime experience when they can sit up and look around. They also started daycare at Ms. Diane's house. Claire went for almost 2 years to Diane and loved it. So far the girls are loving their days at Ms. Diane's house and I'm loving knowing that they are getting to be in a fun environment.
They are eating everything we offer them! They eat cereal or oatmeal for breakfast, fruit for lunch and a veggie for dinner. They drink a 4 ounce bottle with every meal, an extra bottle most days for a snack and a 6 ounce bottle before bed. They've adjusted well to eating at home and school and most days share a bowl of food with one spoon. Talk about contamination :) We work smarter not harder around here.
July was a month of runny noses due to what we think is teething starting and starting daycare. We made a trip to the doctor for a rash on Kennedy and several Facebook messages to their doctor. Their stuffy noses are so miserable for everyone in the house. No one sleeps and nothing helps them. Because of a trip I did find out that they are about 15.5 pounds! Whew! No wonder carrying them around is getting more and more difficult.
Their biggest accomplishment this month is that they are on the move. Kennedy started off the scooting and Kinley was just days behind her. I found Kennedy close to the stairs one night and Claire promptly made sure she was safe, grabbed her by the ankles and wheel barreled her back to the play mat.
The whole time I was pregnant I always thought it would be so fun to watch them interact and play together. It is no joke the most fun thing to watch. They laugh at each other and Claire. They roll on each other. They grab at each other's cloths and pacifiers. I think sometimes just to see if the other one is still there. I can't imagine if we could see what it's really like on the inside. I often think about what they could possibly be thinking when they watch Claire or listen to us talk. They are so observant now and such sweet little people.
