Busy Days

Since we've been in China we have been busy every single minute of the day. We are seeing things, eating great food, and enjoying our time together.

This week my dad and Justin headed to the Forbidden City. Claire, my mom, and I had already been last summer so I really didn't want to walk through it again with her because it's such a long walk and so many people. She isn't much for staying in her carrier or her stroller when she sees everyone else walking.

We went to tour an area where the emperors would visit to relax. It's around a large lake that is partly frozen over at this point in the year. There are lots of shops, places to eat, and people. Claire has been beyond tired this week with the jet lag so I figured I would just carry her around in her backpack. Being the blue eyed, blonde hair baby she is everyone wants to touch her. We had to stop for people to take pictures with her while walking. We also saw some interesting things: an older man swimming in his underwear, the biggest cotton candy I've ever seen, and I just can't get over the workout equipment that is all over the place.

We've spent some time at the markets shopping for bags and jewelry to bring back home. I have a slight obsession with both and I enjoy getting them at a cheap price. Claire isn't a big fan of the shopping trips and neither is her dad, but they've been good sports throughout the week.

Last night we enjoyed some Tex Mex in China! I stuck to the chips and salsa with margaritas, but from the looks of it everyone seemed to enjoy their food. We also ventured out to the food street where I knew Justin and my dad would enjoy some local bugs. They didn't disappoint and ate several things; silkworm,  crickets, and something else.

Overall, this trip is shaping up to be a great one!
