3 Months

Dear Claire,

Three months has gone so fast! This month you went and had your two-month check-up and shots. You were right under 11 pounds and 21 inches long. You are growing just like you should be. You also had to get shots. It was a good thing daddy was there because mommy stood in the corner and tried not to cry. Daddy had to put something in your mouth to prevent polio and then the corpsman gave you THREE shots! She told us the last one would burn like fire and you wouldn’t be happy. When you started crying daddy started laughing and mommy was starting to cry. It went so fast though and it was over before we knew it. We got you Tylenol and you came home and went to bed for the next 24 hours. You only woke up to eat. You had slept through the night a few nights before that but the night you got the shots you were up a lot more. It took a few nights to get you back on track.

This month was a big sleeping milestone for you. You slept through the night one night at the beginning of the month but then went back to your normal schedule. The on September 17th you slept through the whole night 9:30-7:30! We had friends over that night and when you went to sleep you were out! That was the best night you have had. You have started sleeping longer at night and only wake up once to eat then go back to sleep.

The doctor told us we needed to unswaddle you when you sleep. We tried one night and it didn’t work you cried so much we swaddled you up. Towards the end of the month you flipped yourself over in your bed, but you couldn’t get back over. I thought it was time we started working on getting you out of the swaddle again. One night we just put you in a sleep sack and you flipped over on your tummy and went right to sleep!

You still love your mommy and daddy the most and love making funny faces at us. You aren’t crying as much when other people hold you. You are very snuggly and now like to be turned facing out when we hold you so that you can see what’s going on. You like your playmat and the peacock who you hit at and are starting to grab. You also like your bouncy chair and smile when it’s turned on to vibrate. You sit in the chair and watch baby Einstein movies. We have tried putting you in the jump-a-roo, but you are still not big enough. You have found your hands and they have found their way into your mouth. You are starting to blow bubbles and you always have a little bubble of spit on your lip. You laugh when we wipe it away.

We love that your little personality is starting to come out. You are a happy baby unless you are tired or hungry and then who can blame you! We talked the other night about how much you have changed our lives and we love you more then anything in this world, sweet girl. You have a huge smile and we love watching all the changes you are going through.

We love you stinker,
Mommy and daddy
